Discover the Best in Arts and Entertainment on Follow Your Art

Does your child love to express themselves through art? Have you noticed their scribbles have started to resemble an expression of who they are? As children grow and their minds develop, their artistic ability also flourishes. Art can be good for bigger kids in many ways.

While an older child needs to learn science, math, and reading, art is essential  to their development. It’s a way for them to communicate and build confidence. They are ready to think bigger and create more. From the ages of 8-12 years, children are more observant of other’s work. They begin to become inspired and learn to communicate their ideas. They problem solve and help each other along the way. Art is a great way for children to learn teamwork.

Art allows children to make choices. They learn to become more comfortable as they make choices, which is key for creativity and confidence.  The best way for children is to experience art allowing them to explore materials and learn by experimenting.

Creating art is good for a child’s mental health. It can help improve the self-esteem in children as well as self-awareness, which  can advance social skills. Art can be therapeutic by allowing an outlet for emotions. It can give a child a voice they may not have otherwise.

As children get older, the artistic need to express themselves continues to be an important part of their development. At Follow Your Art, kids ages 8-12 will enjoy a variety of art mediums including painting, drawing, sculpting and more!
