Art for Every Artist

Every artist creates differently.

At Follow Your Art, I want students to feel comfortable being themselves, exploring their interests, and creating in a way that works for them.

I welcome autistic students, students with different learning styles, and artists who may need a little extra patience, flexibility, or encouragement in the studio.

I am an art instructor with a degree in Studio Art, not a therapist or special-education specialist. My experience comes from teaching and working with students as individuals—getting to know how they learn, what interests them, what helps them feel comfortable, and what gets them excited about creating.

A Place to Create Without Pressure

Art can offer something different to every student. For some, creating is a way to slow down and focus. For others, it is a way to express ideas they have trouble putting into words. Some students love experimenting with materials, while others find confidence in learning a skill and realizing,

I can do this.

There is no single right way to be an artist. At Follow Your Art, students are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, develop skills, explore their own interests, and discover their individual artistic voice.

Learning Together

Whenever possible, students learn alongside their peers in our regular small-group classes rather than being separated into a different program.

Classes are intentionally kept small, with no more than six students, which gives me room to get to know each artist and provide individual guidance while still allowing students to enjoy creating alongside one another. Some students thrive in that environment. Others may feel more comfortable with one-on-one instruction. Private art lessons are also available for students who would benefit from a quieter setting, more individualized pacing, or projects designed specifically around their interests.

Finding the Right Fit

If you're unsure which class environment would be best for your artist, reach out and tell me a little about them—their age, interests, previous art experience, and anything that helps them feel comfortable while learning. We can talk about whether a small-group Art Unplugged class or private lessons would be the better place to begin.

Art instruction at Follow Your Art is educational and recreational and is not art therapy or mental-health treatment.
